Apple Experiment Unit

This was our next unit to create for Teachers Pay Teachers! It is an Apple Experiment Unit. An apple unit filled with higher level thinking, scientific method experiments and activities that challenge students to justify their thinking.

Included in this packet:

  • Students will complete two scientific method experiments.
  • What solution helps the apple retain its color the longest?
  • Will an apple sink or float?

This packet also includes higher level thinking. Students will invent an apple picking machine and justify their thinking; explaining why it will be efficient. Students will also explore the apple life cycle by labeling a diagram and ranking the importance of parts of an apple. Lastly, students will make a nonfiction flip book about the life cycle of an apple tree.

I pair all of these activities with nonfiction books about apples. The duration is about two weeks, including being paired with nonfiction books & my 30 minute block I have for Science.
